Catalonia is undoubtedly one of the most popular holiday destinations, especially for lovers of seaside relaxation and sunny beaches. The Costa Barva in northeastern Spain offers tourists not only numerous attractions, excellent weather and fantastic landscapes, but also a wide range of accommodation options - from guesthouses to five-star hotels.

Those who love a more casual holiday will find many attractive campsites in the region, among which one of the most popular is Las Dunas - a modern, spacious campsite for families located in the picturesque Bay of Roses. Located directly on the beach, it provides not only comfortable accommodation options, but also numerous attractions for both children and adults, including an aqua park, four different restaurants and rich sports infrastructure.

Accommodation options available

The Spanish Las Dunas campsite provides guests with the opportunity to rent spacious plots among trees with an area of 75-100 m² to park a camper or van, each with an electricity connection. The plots are divided into four categories:

  • Standard – area 75 m², electricity connection 6 amperes, no water or internet connection
  • Comfort – area 100 m², electricity connection 6 amperes, no water or internet connection
  • Comfort Plus – area 100 m², electricity connection 10 amperes, water connection available, no Internet
  • Premium – area 100 m², 10 ampere electricity connection, water connection available, internet available

We can bring a dog to the campsite, but it is necessary to report this fact when making a reservation, as not all pitches allow this possibility.

The campsite also offers comfortable bungalows for four or six people . Four-person cottages (TWIN, area 32 m²) have two bedrooms (one with a double bed and one with two single beds) and are located in the central part of the campsite, closed to car traffic.

The six-person cottages (PONENT, area 40 m²) have three bedrooms (one with a bunk bed) and are located in three different locations on the campsite. All bungalows have well-equipped kitchens (including a microwave, fridge, coffee maker), comfortable bathrooms, their own terrace and air conditioning, and are also equipped with Wi-Fi routers (except for the five I-PONENT cottages in sector I).

Camping Las Dunas – also accessible by plane

We can come to the Las Dunas campsite with our own camper or van, but we can also spend our holidays there by air. The campsite is less than 60 km from Girona airport, and the journey by car from the airport to the site takes approximately 50 minutes. Importantly, Las Dunas offers free airport transfer to all guests who book a bungalow in the off-season for a week or longer (for other guests, the airport transfer option is available for a fee).

Swimming pools and water attractions at the Las Dunas campsite

The campsite has an extensive water park with an area of 5,000 m² surrounded by a sun terrace with deckchairs , which provides numerous attractions for adults and children. Five slides, a bubble bath and an artificial river with water jets make time spent in the water park great entertainment. For little ones, there is a paddling pool up to 40 cm deep with four mini-slides. A team of qualified lifeguards ensures the safety of adults and children in the water park.

Importantly, the water in the Las Dunas water park is disinfected through the salt electrolysis process , so there is no need to chlorinate it. Water from swimming pools does not have a salty taste, it also causes less eye and skin irritation compared to chlorinated water, and the whole process is much more environmentally friendly.

It is worth emphasizing that the water attractions at the Las Dunas campsite are not only the water park. The campsite is located next to the vast, sandy beach of Sant Pere Pescador, 6 km long, with six direct access points. The beach is ideal for children due to the gentle slope into the water, which is shallow and clear. The beach bar with a large terrace, located right next to the campsite, offers the opportunity to refresh yourself with a cool drink, and on warm summer nights, live music performances are organized there.

Those who love spending their time actively can take advantage of the offer of the FaseWind water sports center , which has two bases on the campsite. The center organizes classes including: from windsurfing, kitesurfing, skimboarding and SUP yoga, intended for various age groups (including children) and various levels of advancement. Additionally, the surf school has a well-equipped shop where you can buy, rent and store surfing equipment.

Other facilities available at the campsite

Your stay at the Las Dunas campsite is completely comfortable due to numerous amenities for residents. The facility has a well-stocked supermarket with a wide selection of fresh products, bread and meat from local suppliers, a souvenir and newspaper shop, a swimsuit and beach fashion boutique, and a laundry room.

Four restaurants serve delicious dishes based on fresh local products, and the bar in the water park with a covered terrace offers ice cream, snacks and refreshing drinks. Evening entertainment is provided by the FATA nightclub with DJ service, and you can also have an evening drink in the air-conditioned "La Cova" pub. Live performances are held on the large stage by the pool.

Las Dunas – a campsite ideal for families

It is not without reason that Las Dunas is considered an ideal campsite for families. Adapted to the needs of this group of tourists, it offers many amenities, such as:

  • Doctor available at the campsite - there is a private doctor's office in Las Dunas, which is open every day in the season until the last patient is seen, and in the off-season, an appointment can be booked at the reception. If necessary, the nearest 24-hour medical facility is located in l'Escala, just 6 km from the campsite, and the nearest hospital is 25 km away, in Figueres.
  • Bathrooms for children – mosaic bathrooms at the campsite are a great attraction for children. These small works of art, in shades of blue and inspired by local fauna and flora, turn an ordinary bath into a real adventure.
  • Animations for children - numerous attractions for the youngest residents of the campsite can be found in the Laladu mini-club, where experienced animators organize their free time and provide entertainment, including discos and photo sessions with the campsite's mascot - the Laladu turtle.
  • XD Club for teenagers - teenagers aged 12 to 17 can also count on numerous attractions at the campsite. The XD Club dedicated to them offers guided bicycle trips, paintball games, sports competitions, console games and many other entertainment.

At the campsite it is also possible to rent accessories for the youngest, e.g. high chairs, travel cots or bathtubs.
