There are places that most people will probably never see with their own eyes, because they are very far away, and besides, the prices in them can shock the average tourist. Unfortunately, Bora Bora belongs to such places, which does not mean that you cannot dream about it.

One of the most beautiful islands in the world lies northwest of Tahiti. Its area is 22 km², and tourists are taken to it by ferry because the airport is too small to accommodate large planes. For years, it has been winning various types of rankings for heavenly places and wonders of nature. Whoever sees it once, will understand why, after the end of World War II, the American soldiers stationed there did not want to return home. Bora Bora, because we are talking about it, is also known as "Mai te pora", meaning "created by the gods".

Say yes in paradise

Bora-Bora is situated in the Pacific Ocean and administratively belongs to French Polynesia. In the past, it was inhabited by Polynesians, after which only bas-reliefs and ruins of temples have survived. Later it was the US sea and land base, and today it is an important tourist center. Unfortunately, not for everyone, and even not for the average budget - a week's stay of one person fluctuates around PLN 10,000 on average.

On the other hand, it must be honestly admitted that the island directs its offer definitely to the wealthy. It is they who spend their holidays in Tahitian houses covered with reeds standing on stilts in the water. From the outside they are stylized as primitive, inside they are equipped with all the luxuries. They have glass floors that allow you to watch sea creatures and even feed them through special holes. Each cottage has its own pier from which you can quickly get to the crystal clear water.

Guests who overslept for breakfast or prefer to eat it at home can count on food delivery - hotels of many Polynesian islands offer the so-called Canoe Breakfast - a meal served from a boat decorated with flowers.

More and more luxury hotels are being built in Bora Bora. There are also a lot of exclusive boutiques and exquisite restaurants. Celebrities, famous personalities and the wealthy come here on vacation, including those who decide to get married. For those in love, there is a chapel suspended above the water, where they can say "yes" to each other.

The island of black pearls

The island, considered by many to be a true paradise on earth, is known not only for its beauty, but also for the fact that black pearls are grown there. In addition, it is famous for its sea water, which is one of the cleanest in the world. Many hotels use its healing properties in their SPAs, offering tourists, among others thalassotherapy.

In Bora Bora it is wonderful to relax, not only on the beach. Especially enthusiasts of water sports such as diving, kitesurfing, windsurfing or water skiing will be delighted to stay there. Sailing enthusiasts and lovers of watching the sea fauna will love the beautiful lagoon. The Coral Garden, a natural underwater park, is waiting for the last ones. The shallow waters around the island are home to stingrays, a little further away, sea turtles, parrotfish, huge manta rays and reef sharks that come in shoal at feeding times. They can be observed in a snorkeling mask, after securing themselves with a rope.

A vacation in paradise

What else can you do in Paradise? Ride a horse, have a picnic on the water, go on a cruise, rent a boat or a catamaran. You can enjoy the sight of colorful archipelagos, admire the proudly drawn volcano, and take a walk to a pineapple plantation.

The first day of stay will be a day of rest - we have to set the clock back as much as 12 hours from Polish time (we will arrive "yesterday"). But when you gather your strength, you can start enjoying the divine views, water with a transparency of up to 50 meters, the abundance of marine life, great cuisine and the kindness of the inhabitants. It is a long time to list all the advantages of Maja. It will undoubtedly be the holiday of our lives.
