Relax in the green of Provence

Relax in the green of Provence – main image

In a lovely French village called Les Vigneaux, romantically tucked between the Italian border and the Écrins National Park, is camping Le Courounba, one of the facilities of the Campéole chain. Its surroundings are delightful - not only for those who passionately love nature and would run away from civilization at the first opportunity, where peace and quiet, and a whole sea of greenery. It is an ideal place for those looking for a respite, as well as for fans of mountain trips, on foot or by bike. Families with children will also enjoy staying at this peaceful (though not small!) Campground.

Green camping in Provence

The first advantage of the facility that should be mentioned is its location. It is located on the banks of the Gironde, it is surrounded by mountains from all sides, and the camping itself is fabulously green. If we were to choose its leading colors, it would be green - and blue. Let us imagine an area of 12 hectares, the boundaries of which are delimited by dense trees. In the background you can see the slopes of the mountains covered with low vegetation. Green is reflected in the water of the pools and in the surface of the river, so it seems that there is twice as much of it as it actually is. Even the slide (its underside) is green. The campsite is a wonderful place, perfect for a summer holiday in France .

From June to September, you can splash around in the large heated swimming pool - the temperature reaches 25 ° C. In addition to the slide, there is also a paddling pool for kids. In July and August, the safety of the swimmers is supervised by a qualified lifeguard. During this period, there is also a playground for children with an inflatable castle. Little guests will lose track of time in it.

Holidays in France - for sports

Camping Le Courounba offers relaxation and pampering in the spa area with sauna and hot tub, as well as the recreation area for sports enthusiasts. There are two tennis courts, a volleyball court, ping-pong tables, as well as a pétanque area and a special jumping platform.

In addition to the multifunctional sports field, amateurs of active recreation can spend time outside the campsite - on hiking or cycling trips along the surrounding routes (there are several hundred of them here!), They can practice Nordic walking, mountain climbing (Ailefroide zone) and a number of water sports, including e.g. go canoeing down the Gironde. It's not everything. Horse riding, summer tobogganing and sports fishing are also among the activities that can be devoted to this beautiful region. Adrenaline enthusiasts can test themselves while flying with a paraglider or a balloon. The landscapes of the High Alps are tempting with beauty, encouraging the visitors to explore.

In the shadow of the High Alps

The campsite invites people looking for a holiday destination in Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur . Those who decide to spend their holidays there will be delighted with both the wide range of amenities offered by the facility and the beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. The region is very popular among tourists, attracted by its rich history and cultural heritage, the diversity of landscapes and high sun exposure.

Thanks to the excellent location of the campsite, guests have easy access to the interesting places of the Écrins National Park , visited annually by about 800,000 tourists. It is worth mentioning that it is the largest of the French parks, 2/3 of its area lies in the department of High Alps, and 1/3 - in the department of Isère. The park is crossed by over 1000 km of hiking trails, of which approx. 740 km are marked. In addition to hiking amateurs, it is also visited by numerous alpine skiers and climbers.

Also noteworthy are the region's silver mines and their museum (in Argentière-la-Bessée), Vauban forts in Mont-Dauphin and Briancon, inscribed on the UNESCO list, and the famous passes: Col d'Izoard, Lautaret, Galibier and Col du Télégraphe.

Barcelonnette - Spanish in name only
In the Provencal Alps, at the confluence of two beautiful valleys, there is a French town with a Spanish-sounding name and architecture with distinct Mexican accents. This is Barcelonnette, which has numerous ski resorts as its neighbors, and itself tempts with something completely different - a specific atmosphere, the possibility of blissful relaxation or active time spent among pristine Alpine nature. "Barcelonnette", naturally, is associated with Barcelona and is translated as a diminutive of its name. In terms of architecture, however, it does not resemble much the center famous for the Sagrada Familia temple or residential buildings designed by Antonio Gaudi (including Casa Batlló, Casa Vicens). The city owes its name to the fact that Ramon Berenguer IV, who founded it in the 13th century, was also the ruler of the seat of Catalonia. Barcelonnette is surrounded by Alpine peaks, the largest of which, Grand Berard, rises above the horizon north of the city. On the other side, the sky is decorated with Le Chapeau de Gendarme, considered the most picturesque of all the peaks that cast a shadow over the valleys of the Ubaye River and its tributary, the Bachelard. The town is beautifully situated on the flat bottom of the valley, and a little higher, in the background, there are pastures and meadows. Between them, small hamlets nestled in the landscape, looking as if time had stopped there for at least half a century. Even higher, the areas are covered with pine forests, and above them you can see the mountain peaks, jagged like the edges of a cordon handkerchief. What could be a more relaxing sight, what better place to holiday in the Alps than a campsite in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region ?.
