Natural values of Upper Silesia

Although the Silesian Voivodeship has the highest degree of urbanization and population density in Poland, there are many valuable natural places in its area. The region abounds in forest complexes, landscape parks and nature reserves, moreover, within the voivodeship there are mountain areas of the Beskids. It is also worth mentioning the Błędów Desert, unique on a national scale, located in Dąbrowa Górnicza.

Active holidays in the mountains and more

There are many opportunities for active recreation in the Silesian Voivodeship. There are many hiking trails and winter sports centers in the Silesian Beskids, recreational parks in the cities (for example Silesian Park and zoo in Chorzów, Botanical Garden in Mikołów, Trzy Wzgórza in Wodzisław Śląski, park and european bison farm in Pszczyna). Contrary to appearances, there are many lakes here where you can practice water sports – the most popular are the Pogoria reservoirs in Dąbrowa Górnicza, Paprocany Lake in Tychy and Sosina Lagoon in Jaworzno. A great place for hiking is the Trail of the Eagles' Nests in Kraków-Częstochowa Upland, where you can also do rock climbing and cave tourism.

Museums and monuments of Upper Silesia

There are also many interesting museums and monuments in Upper Silesia. We especially recommend a trip to the palace in Pszczyna and castles in Gliwice, Rybnik, Bielsko-Biała, Chudów, Ogrodzieniec, Będzin or Olsztyn near Częstochowa. Among the numerous museums scattered around all the cities of the Silesian metropolis, it is especially worth visiting the Silesian Museum in Katowice, Museum of PRL in Ruda Śląska, Upper Silesian Museum in Bytom, Częstochowa Museum and Wilson Shaft Gallery in Katowice. Due to the strong industrialization of Upper Silesia, there are also many industrial monuments, such as Historic Silver Mine and the Black Trout Adit in Tarnowskie Góry, open-air mining museums "Queen Louise" and "Guido" in Zabrze, Weaver's House and Museum of Technology and Textiles in Bielsko-Biała, Tyskie Brewing Museum and Coal Mining Museum in Zabrze.
