Caravan Salon Dusseldorf, probably the world's largest fair related to tourism and camping, has already passed. Both the organizers and exhibitors claim that the event can be regarded as a great success.
Trade shows in Germany lasted from 30th of August to 7th of September, attracting visitors from all over the world. The organizers have already analyzed the statistics and quickly announced that this year's trade fair in Dusseldorf was the biggest success in the history of the event.
People came even from Australia
Well, the numbers are indeed very impressive. Within eight days, the trade halls were visited by over 192,000 people, 25,000 of which were foreign guests. Exhibitors noticed that among the guests was a lot of Asians and Australians. Among the Europeans the majority were Dutch people, and among Germans themselves many people came even from the south of the country (apparently due to intensive advertising campaign).
During the event, you could see stands of 580 exhibitors from 25 countries (including Poland). To complete these statistics, it’s worth noting that the campsite, arranged for tourists, was filled by over 28,000 vehicles! And that’s another record associated with the fair.
Customers rushed to hunt
Guests can be divided into those, who had come to establish new business contacts, as well as to individuals (often entire families), interested in purchasing or modifying their camping vehicle. Both the first and the second group had its strong representation.
Exhibitors emphasized that the ending season was very good for them, and that new promises to be even better. So we can assume that the economic crisis, which seemed to be devouring Europe one year ago, today can be felt just in small extent.
Interest in tourism and camping is very big and, what’s especially interesting, potential customers are getting acquaint with the industry. When visiting the stands of well-known manufacturers, they usually already know the company's offer, and they talk with the exhibitors asking very specific questions.
Caravans become fashionable
According to manufacturers, there’s an increasing interest in two categories of products. The first are caravans, what is the more surprising, because traveling with caravan seems to be more troublesome than driving a motorhome.
Perhaps this trend is influenced by a more interesting offer of manufacturers, who recently introduce possibilities for even greater personalization of caravans, and therefore making them more attractive to customers. A customers seem to like this option.
The second popular category are semi integrated motorhomes. Perhaps because they’re more accessible in terms of price than fully integrated models, and each year the variety of options increase, which therefore translates into the perceived comfort. So we can have more and more for the price, which in the minds of customers from Western Europe is quite reasonable.
Customers, as usual, were most interested in the novelties. But they focused not only on caravans and motorhomes, but also, for example, on accessories and tents.
If to trust the moods of exhibitors and fair organizers, we can assume that the caravanning industry will have a very promising year.
