The annual fair in Dusseldorf (Germany) is the biggest caravanning event in the world. Caravan Salon 2014 starts on August 30th and ends on September 7th.
If you would like to get acquaint with almost everything that’s happening in caravanning industry in one place and time, you should definitely attend Dusseldorf fair. It’s difficult to find something nearly as good as this German exhibition.
The numbers speak for themselves. In Dusseldorf, guests will have 190,000 square meters of exhibition space to explore - both in the halls and outside. This year, in addition to the nine halls available previously, two new halls will be open, and therefore you’ll have even more to explore. 580 exhibitors, who wish to show the audience approx. 1,900 vehicles, announced their presence at the Caravan Salon.
All categories of vehicles are going to be represented. You can expect caravans, family motorhomes, as well as the most luxurious, the equipment of which includes sauna, swimming pool and a garage.
This year, special attention will be attracted to the new base vehicles - including New Fiat Ducato and Iveco Daily, about which we’ve already written several time. They are more advanced in technical terms, more economical and more environmentally friendly than their predecessors.
Motorhome manufacturers are ready to do almost everything to make the best use the space offered in vehicles. Therefore, we can expect many ingenious solutions in the interior arrangements. An important trend is decreasing the weight of recreational vehicles. Currently bigger motorhomes get on sale, but they still fit within the range of vehicles with a GVW of 3.5 tonnes.
Visitors will be able to take part in several competitions. In the biggest one there’s DubBox caravan to win, that looks like cut Volskwagen "cucumber". Door handles, bumpers, "safari" type windows - everything here is in the old style. The person, who wins the prize, will also get a free interior design in the package.
In another contest you participants can win holidays at a 5 star campsite. To get such chance, you have to prove that you have good senses. For example, in the taste test (with covered eyes), you will have to recognize particular dishes, and in smell test, demonstrate a good sense of smell.
Videos and canoes
As usual, the organizers have planned a lot of events. "Dream Tours" promises to be interesting – it’s a daily videos show documenting motorhome travels, along American highways and the Silk Road. You’ll be able to see Australia, New Zealand, Iceland, Faroe Islands, as well as vast areas of Indochina.
Besides, vintage cars will be shown, and you’ll have a chance to test e-bikes and electric scooters. Probably some motorhomes will also be available to undergo the tests.
One of the greatest attractions, not directly related to caravanning, will be canoe track available on the area of the trade fair to all visitors, regardless of their level of proficiency. Moreover, there’ll be plenty of activities for children - including climbing walls for older, and inflatable castles or face painting for younger.
Ticket prices for the Caravan Salon 2014
