Dub Box, who cut the bulli?
This caravan can cause a lot of confusion. When you see it from behind, you might think that this is an old, rad Volskwagen T1, the so-called "bulli". But where is the front? Did somebody cut it?!
DubBox is a caravan that makes a big impression. It’s because everything in its appearance seems to be old, classic and genuine. It's hard to believe that it may be only a replica, in addition using a modern material GfK in the construction.
And so it is. Dub Box is a caravan manufactured by the British company in two lengths - 270 cm and 489 cm.
Currently, you have to wait 3 months for the finished product. For the "bare" and short caravan you have to pay approx. 6,000 euro. When buying a caravan with modest equipment, which includes bed, it’ll be twice more expensive. However, these versions are offered as “cut", in relation to the standard. Longer Dub Box Standard costs (in Germany) min. 16.500 euro.
It’s worth emphasizing that each customer chooses both the exterior paint and interior color. Moreover, the whole project is individually coordinated with the client. For a surcharge, you can even get a version with pop-up roof.
Caravan in a shortcut
Although each caravan is individually designed, you can find two basic arrangements of the interior on company’s photographs.
In the shorter version we can find a couch and coffee table. Sofa with blue upholstery and floor in black and white checkerboard pattern looks very interesting in photographs.
The table can be easily removed, and sofa may occupy the entire living space when unfolded. Thanks to this we get a pretty comfortable place to sleep in size of 158 x 188 cm. In the shorter caravan, kitchen worktop is located at the rear of the vehicle. Therefore, you can open the rear hatch and cook outside.
The equipment of the version Shortie Dub Box we’ll find, among others, a stainless steel sink, retro refrigerator, two 240 V sockets, two 12 V sockets, water pump, LED lighting and smoke detector. For an additional charge you can get a sunroof, heating system, alloy wheels and shock absorbers.
Version without compromise
Longer version more closely resembles a fully modern and comfortable caravan. Kitchen unit can be placed like in a short version or in front of the entrance.
Sink, gas stove, kitchen cabinets and fridge - if it wasn’t for more vivid cabinets’ colors, they would look the same as in "normal" caravans. Also, the living space with sofa and dining table in the center, looks quite ordinary, but promises a decent comfort.
Sofas can be transformed into bed, and if we order a version with manually raised roof, we get an additional sleeping place at the top.
The equipment of Standard Dub Box includes: double burner gas stove, CD/MP3 player with USB charger and everything that is also mounted in the shorter version.
Maximum permissible gross weight in both versions is the same and amounts 750 kg, while the load capacity amounts 150 kg.
On request you can also order version Tuck Box, which can be assigned to a popular category "truck food". It’s definitely not a truck, but it perfectly serves as an attractive and mobile place for selling beverages, ice creams, or hamburgers.
During the 2014 Caravan Salon in Dusseldorf visitors will be able to win a Dub Box trailer.
