Is this the end of rounded caravans? Knaus Deseo heads towards a completely opposite direction. In this case, angular shapes present freshly and modern. But it’s not the only innovation.
Knaus Deseo is a caravan, which sets new rules in design. From the assumption it’s suppose to be affordable (in Germany it costs from 7888 EUR), aimed rather at young people, and thanks to its modular construction it gives huge possibilities, when it comes to the equipment and arrangement of the interior.
Cleverly and inexpensively
With this model, Knaus is trying to convince us that comfortable and modern solutions don’t have to be expensive. The purchase of a new Deseo caravan is suppose to be an alternative even to purchasing a few year old caravan. To make the model, that would appeal to young people, Knaus took care of the interesting design. The interior is dominated by bright colors and rounded shapes of furniture. The elements, which give the impression of coziness, such as colored upholstery, have been combined with modern, smooth surfaces of the bathroom door or open-work sides of bunk bed.
But the most important is the flexibility of the solutions. For example, a bunk bed can be turned into a sofa, or be completely folded, on the walls were hung boards, to which you can attach sticky notes and blackboards, on which you can write with chalk. Clothes, shoes and other items can be stored in plastic boxes under the bed – it’s a solution straight from Ikea.
Deseo comes in seven versions. The smallest and newest model, Box has dimensions of 372 x 210 cm. Even such a small trailer can have a bathroom with shower and a kitchen part. Two sofas and a table between them can be turned into one bed that can accommodate four people. The maximum load capacity of the trailer is 1000 kg.
The most common version is model Deseo (with no additional name). The dimensions of this trailer are 588 x 218 cm, but interestingly, the maximum load capacity is smaller (amounts 850 kg) than in the shorter model (it can be increased for an extra charge). This version also can accommodate up to four people, although there’re two beds (including one bunk bed).
The longest versions are Family and Family Plus - measuring 711 x 232 cm. Their maximum load capacity is 1,200 and 1.360 kg, but they also are designed for four people.
How could Knaus offer such a low price? It's simple! The manufacturer gives customers not more than only four walls on wheels.
The standard includes hanging boards, folding tables (you can also put them outside), PVC flooring, interior lighting, 12V and 230V sockets. It's not much. In the classic version of Deseo we can also find a garage space and a kitchen (but devoid of equipment), 5 hinged windows and a roof ventilation. If we opt for a "real" equipment, we need to look at the list of extras for which you have to pay.
We can choose, for example, a shower package. Then we get a 78-liter water tank, boiler (installed in the kitchen), a toilet with sink, shower tray with shower and a skylight. Kitchen package includes a 60-liter refrigerator, sink, two-burner gas stove. You can also opt for a kitchen package enriched with Truma heating.
Modular equipment in this case means that we have to pay extra for almost everything we want to have in our caravan. This solution has one significant advantage - we don’t have to pay for what’s needless.
