Knaus – brand today owned by a company Knaus Tabbert - presents their novelties mainly during fairs. For Knaus, new season started already in 2013, during fairs in Duesseldorf, and ended in January 2014, in Stuttgart.
A significant starting point for Knaus was a presentation of a conceptual motorhome Caravisio, that took place in the autumn of last year. This model caused quite a sensation, because it rarely happens that the company, that makes mainly adaptations of standard vehicles for tourism, has created its own version of the conceptual car. Thus Knaus showed that with regard to vision, as well as to technology, isn’t any worse than the car manufacturers.
But let's get real. In the current offer from Knaus, an important novelty is a fully integrated motorhome Sky iPlus. It’s an expanded version of the model Sky. iPlus is distinguished by a slightly different interior styling featured with chrome fittings. We’ll recognize this vehicle also from the outside – it has a chromed grill strip.
The car was made using plastics (GRP roof, sidewalls of polyurethane plastic) and has no wooden parts in its structure. The important advantages of the car include a panoramic windscreen and a large lowering bed, to which you can get without a ladder.
In respect of semi-integrated cars, the differences regard mainly the equipment and interior layouts. For example, the model VAN TI will have a new 600 MEG system with separate beds. Besides, furniture fronts will have a new coloristic, and the driver’s cab – plane seats. There’s also an external, heated supply module, to which you can connect the system of water supply and wastewater disposal. There’s also a 230V power point. GRP floor is fitted as a standard.
The manufacturer proposes two new versions in the model Sky TI – 550 MF is a simple variant designed for two people, while 700 MB is also for two people, though a little bigger, providing a better comfort.
Knaus also draws attention to new caravans from the Sport line. This year we can choose from 17 variants, and the equipment includes chrome elements combined with those made of noble steel. A new compartment for gas bottles has a big load capacity. The manufacturer emphasizes, that the new Sport has a good relation of price to the equipment.
We cannot forget about a caravan Eurostar, a winner in the contest Red Dot Award. This caravan is distinguished by an interesting, modern design, with a large window and interestingly designed side wall.
Thanks to the Digital Imaging Technology, you can print any pattern on the wall – without any visible edges. Knaus uses this opportunity, trying to give the surfaces of its caravans a three-dimensional effect.
Inside Eurostar we can find an L-shaped kitchen with a stainless sink, as well as a folding trash can. Double floor hides not only lots of compartments, but also a supply module and water container. Here, a new feature would be the possibility of mounting a roof air conditioning, Ambiente lighting, Midi-Heki skylight, or a TV.
The presentation of novelties has fulfilled in the January of 2014, during CMT fairs in Stuttgart.
The biggest novelty is a caravan Lifestyle, which is distinguished by an interesting interior. Grey carpet on the floor, upholstery combining both grey and blue color, and cabinets in the shade of grey are the elements which create a modern and neat space.
What can be really pleasing are rounded shelves above the bunk bed, or shutters covering the door with two windows with rounded corners. The kitchen is a peninsula set across the caravan in its central part, and a side worktop serves also as a bar table, with high chairs next to it.
A new thing is also a Boxtar in version You & Me. It’s a van, which, despite the size of a typical Fiat Ducato (length starting from 541 cm) in its interior has a full-size bathroom with a shower and a kitchen. It was possible to save some space by resigning from the bench. Reversed driver’s and passenger’s seats serve as chairs. The car of course features a double bed.
