More often, when we want to by a motorhome, we don’t have to buy one that was imported from abroad. Elcamp offers motorhomes Neo Traveller, brand Doch – Novano, Romer Niewiadow also has its own camping vehicle.

Romer advertises his motorhome as a “world quality at a reasonable price”. And those reasonable prices start in this case from 210 000 PLN (approx. 54 000 EUR), just like in case of other aforementioned motorhomes.

So what distinguishes the motorhome prepared by a young company from Niewiadow, established by former employees of the Polish oldest factory of caravans? In case of Romer, we’re not dealing with a van that was adapted to camping function. We’re speaking about a semi-integrated vehicle, and this means that where the driver’s cab ends, a wholly new, separate part begins. And here we have this world’s quality.

Sandwich from Niewiadow

Majority of motorhomes and caravans manufactured in Europe, especially if we are talking about vehicles offered at lower price classes, are made of laminate. Only some brands, usually those from "premium" class, offer more advanced solutions, eg. the construction of a "sandwich". Meanwhile, the motorhome and all caravans from Romer have a layered construction.

- Our camper is built of walls in a "sandwich" technology, where the outer layer is a glass-polyester filled with styrodur, while the internal layer is made of laminated plywood - says Leszek Reszka, the director of Romer. - In the same way our caravans are built - he added.

Styrodur (or styrofoam) XPS has a thickness of 25 mm. According to the manufacturer, this type of insulation has a big advantage over the ordinary polystyrene due to its lower thermal permeability, greater mechanical endurance and resistance to moisture and water vapor diffusion. Additional protection in the form of a laminate provides motorhomes and caravans a very good tightness.

The motorhome has a standard kitchen area with gas burners and sink, as well as 80-liter fridge. Another big advantage is the fact that toilet part is located in a different room than the shower.

Water and wastewater containers have the capacity of 85 liters, wherein the water inlet is located outside the vehicle. Dirty water container was placed in a thermally insulated casing and is additionally equipped with an electric heater.

In case of a motorhome we can count on fairly rich standard equipment. It includes, among others, furniture with numerous compartments (including a wardrobe and a compartment for pull out TV), two skylights, antenna installation and additional battery. The vehicle can sleep up to 4 people.

The car is equipped with an additional gas heating with a system of heat distribution inside the living area. A 10-liter boiler is also a part of the heating system.

In terms of lighting, the manufacturer decided to combine modern LEDs that act as additional lighting with halogen lamps (which are the main source of light).

The internal facilities also include a control panel with fresh and dirty water level indicator, indicators of the additional and starting battery and a main switch 12V. Roof air conditioner requires 5 000 PLN (approx. 1200 EUR) of extra charge, while the TV 1500 PLN (approx. 370 EUR).

The motorhome from Romer is available with three engine variants - 2.0 JTD (115 HP), 2.3 JTD (150 HP) and 3.0 JTD (160 HP). While the first unit can be quite poor considering the curb weight of 2.980 kg, the two more powerful engines should therefore be good options. The length of the vehicle is 706 cm.

Basically, all what can be considered as a downside, is the appearance of the interior. A little bit more modern selection of designs and colors would be better, because when it comes to aesthetics, Romer - especially when compared with western brands – is a bit outdated. And now, design is a lot more important than few years ago. If the manufacturer will take this to this to heart, and will make the necessary changes, the motorhome from Niewiadow might have a chance to conquer the Polish or even foreign markets.
