Sterling is a British brand belonging to Swift Group. They manufacture camping houses, camper vans but mainly caravans, including the most expensive in the offer – Sterling Elite caravan.
Sterling Elite is a caravan of a fairly small size. It comes in two lengths. A smaller model is a caravan measuring 7,30 m, called Sterling Elite Amber, with single axle. The weight of this caravan in a state ready to drive is 1521 kg. Larger are versions Explorer and Searcher – their length amounts 7,99 m and weight, respectively, 1663 and 1672 kg.
The smallest caravan Elite Amber can be bought for 22 240 GBP. Searcher requires a money equivalent of 24 570 GBP, while Explorer – 24 675 GBP. For comparison – the prices of the cheapest, 6 –meter caravans from Sterling start from 16 000 GBP.
In case of the Elite model, the differences between particular interior layouts are tiny. In each case, on the left side of the door you’ll find a table with sofas on both sides. Each sofa unfolds, turning into bed.
In front of the entrance you can find a typical kitchen area. What distinguishes it from other caravans from popular, German manufacturers is kitchen with an oven and separate grill. There are three gas burners, but one is electric (800W).
On the right side from the entrance, we can find cabinets, a large fridge-freezer (190+35 liters), and a bed (bedroom area may be separated from the living area with doors). In total, Sterling Elite offers four sleeping places.
In each version of Elite, the bathroom was placed on the back, behind the part with big bed. It takes the whole width of the caravan. Behind sliding doors we can find a chemical toilet, a sink and a shower. There’s pretty much space in the bathroom as for camping conditions.
It’s good, but without surprises
Both from the outside, as well as inside, Sterling Elite doesn’t surprise with anything particular. Slightly streamlined shape and large windows make, that the caravan fits the current fashion. Inside it’s similar. The interior layouts are well-thought, but predictable. Light wood (by the manufacturer called Italian ash), grey upholstery, chrome elements, LED lighting indicate a pretty high standard, known from the caravans from other manufacturers.
What really distinguishes Elite caravans, are the details of the equipment. In the bathroom we can find an interestingly looking Alde heater, which at the same time serve as a hanger for towels, nicely designed control panel located above the door, as well as convenient external connection of the shower (you just have to plug the pipe into an appropriate hole).
Equipping the caravan in solar panels (as a standard) is definitely an important asset. In Elite model we also find a microwave and a two-way, three-speed vent in the bathroom.
The containers are rather small. Chemical toilet has a capacity of 18 liters, while the water container – 30 liters (you may as well use a pump). In the caravan we’ll find six outlets 230 V. For an extra charge you can get a roof air-conditioning.
Sterling Elite is a big and well-designed caravan with a fairly rich equipment. Maybe it won’t make anybody scream “wow!”, but it should definitely provide a high level of comfort during camping. It’s probably one of those product, which don’t rise too much excitement when saw for the first time, but the more time passes, the more we appreciate them.
