The Americans decided to learn from the Europeans, for whom modern motorhome is almost always based on Fiat Ducato. I wonder, if the U.S. will adopt a "baby" which bases on the car that is called Ram ProMaster overseas.
We don’t exactly know, whether this car has a chance to become popular in America. Winnebago Trend – because that’s how the motorhome is called - is a good example that shows how much different is the way of thinking about motorhomes in Europe and in the United States.
The differences can be seen already from the outside - for example, in European motorhomes we won’t see separated, sliding side windows and the body has generally less various embossed areas.
The American vision of luxury
Even more differences can be seen inside the motorhome. Although the layout is similar to the European, the color scheme may be surprising. In Europe, fronts of cabinets are mostly in light wood color, possibly white or pastel colors. But the American Trend is much darker. The floor gives the impression of being made of stone, the table and countertop looks as if it was made of marble, cabinets are in shades of dark gray and even the seats have dark, burgundy-black quilts.
Although the car isn’t big, inside there’s a place for a shower located behind glazed, sliding door. Hot and cold water is available thanks to traditional, round taps.
A friendly interior
In the kitchen area, we can count on a relatively big worktop in shape of the letter L or straight. Interestingly, the cover of the sink consists of two wooden cutting boards. Really deep, slide-out drawers were placed in a high pantry.
The kitchen accessories include, among others, a microwave. In European motorhomes, if it is installed at all, it’s usually placed over the heads of the passengers. But in Trend it can also be located below, right next to a large refrigerator which was placed opposite to the worktop.
In some versions even up to 7 people can use the table in the living area. Four of them can sit on couches on both sides of the table, and three of them on the sofa set along the side wall.
In the shorter version we can find a smaller couch and rotating seats for driver and passenger. Couches can turn into an additional sleeping place. The main one is located at the rear of the vehicle or can be suspended from the ceiling in front of the car.
The roof window above the bed can be tightly covered with a roller blind. Other windows are equipped with blinds as well. Electric drop-down bed can also be placed in the middle of the vehicle.
Everything included in the price
The American motorhome couldn’t miss the TV (22 - or 26-inch). For an extra charge you can have even two TVs - the bigger one will be hung on the wall in the sleeping area, the second (19-inch) in a locked cabinet in the upper part of the living area. TV antenna with an amplifier is included in the standard equipment, just like the awning on the side of the vehicle and a decorative LED lighting.
Anyway, the standard in this case has virtually everything, for what in Europe you would have to pay extra – including a backup camera. Instead of a long list of additional equipment we have a very long list of what the customer will get at the basic price.
For an additional charge, you can purchase a little more than just the heating of the water and sewage system. Well... America!
