How to level your motorhome or caravan?

A proper leveling of a motorhome or caravan is quite an important element of the use of these vehicles. Usually, for this purpose we use wedges, and manually lowered ramps, but precise positioning of a camping vehicle is really laborious and time-consuming. The solution to this problem began to appear some time ago on the market of additives and accessories for mobile homes – and it’s called self-leveling hydraulic support.

The power’s hydraulics

These supports are powered by a hydraulic pump, which can easily lift a vehicle weighing up to 7.5 tons. Thanks to them you can level the vehicle without any problems, which will facilitate a comfortable sleep in the bed and will end troublesome swinging of camping vehicle when entering or leaving it.

Where we can mount it?

In the case of motorhomes, such supports are mounted directly to dedicated places of vehicle’s frame, specially provided for such a solution, while in the case of caravans the mounting system is a little different. This difference is mainly due to the fact that the caravan cannot be lifted on the "legs" only- the floor might collapse then! Systems of hydraulic leveling for caravans consist of four supports installed in place the original ones were mounted, and two special, vertical supports which are mounted directly on the axle, which allows to lift the caravan safely.

Phone controll

Majority of the systems levels with an exact to 1 centimeter automatically, or gives us the opportunity to do this manually using a special remote control, or - which is a novelty- with an application installed on a smartphone or tablet.

On the market there’re several manufacturers that propose such solution. More popular ones are E&P Hydraulics and Goldschmitt AG - their offer includes not only leveling systems but also other useful "gadgets" dedicated to suspensions mainly used in motorhomes.
