Maso Corto – the pearl of Val Senales
If someone is impressed by the beauty of the glacier Hochjoch, should come to Maso Corto. Especially, when he feels quite confident on skis - the local slopes are mostly steep and rather difficult.
Maso Corto (Kurzas) is the main ski resort in Val Senales, the Italian valley situated at the foot of the aforementioned glacier. It’s easy to get from here to the top of Hochjoch, and besides it’s considered to be the most beautiful, year-round ski area in Italy. And the valley itself is very popular among families with children. The main reason of that is its beauty, but tourists are also tempted by the lack of crowds and quite friendly prices. It's also a favorite place of national teams trainings.
The ski area is closed only in May and June, so you can visit it virtually any time of the year - even in summer. If we decide to come here in June, we can forget about skiing, but we can participate in the great attraction of the region, namely Polish Days. Our compatriots visit the valley so eagerly that we will see Polish signs everywhere, as well as Polish menu, and even Polish instructors.
Attractions of Val Senales
The glacier towering above the valley rises to a height of 3200 meters. We can reach the top by a cable car, and there we can choose among ski runs of all levels of difficulty. Snow enthusiasts can enjoy 37 km of slopes, including an 8 km long slope leading to the valley Corteraso, dedicated to advanced skiers. A real challenge is also a famous black ski run "Schmugglerrinne", the most difficult of all the ski runs of the region.
Fans of carving will be pleased with the great and wide tracks. Similarly, snowboard and freestyle enthusiasts – they have snowpark Gentlemenriders at their disposal, offering a wide range of entertainment (including a half pipe). There’s even something for cross-country skiers - 17 km of slopes, and several kilometers of training loops on the glacier, available throughout the year.
