In the south of Austria there’s a place with perfect conditions for winter sports, and the sun that shines especially strongly. It’s the Nassfeld Pass, a charming corner in the Alps.
Austria is a country, which is pretty hard to compete with, when it comes to the amount and quality of ski resorts. It would be hard to choose one center, because the offer is so rich that you can literally get dizzy – small and large resorts, perfect for families with children as well as for adherents of crazy parties. Undoubtedly, one of the most beautiful Austrian ski areas is the resort located in the south of the country, on the pass of Nassfeld. It’s especially well sunlit, with a guarantee of snow – what else would you ask for, when planning holidays?

Nassfeld – the offer for skiers
Skiing area of Nassfeld locates itself in the first ten of the best ski resorts in Austria. It’s thanks to the perfect conditions - to microclimate and excellent snowing system, covering the whole area. Skiers have at their disposal 30 modern lifts, including 17 t-bars, 8 chairlifts (4 six-seaters and 4 four-seaters), and 5 gondolas. There’s over 110 km of ski slopes, consisting of 30 km of easy, 69 of intermediate and 11 of demanding ski runs for advanced skiers. A picturesque descent to the valley, with a total length of 7,5 km, deserves a particular attention.
Nassfeld can boast of numerous merits, including the longest gondola in the whole Alps (famous Express Millennium), as well as the longest, lit ski slope in this mountain range.
Apart from skiing, guests can enjoy the so-called „Blue Day”, a funpark for adrenaline amateurs. There you can practice your skills in a modern freestyle and other winter sports that require a particularly good condition. Snowboarders and free-riders will be fully satisfied with the amount of obstacles in the local snow park, and if for someone that wouldn’t be enough, he can get acquaint with a racing track Ski Movie – BMW xDrive Cup.

Ticket prices in the season 2013/2014
It has to be admitted, that prices of ski passes in Nassfeld aren’t too low, though the local slopes are worth every penny. For a 1-day pass for an adult skier you have to pay 40 EUR (if you want to ski from 9 A.M.). For a child we’ll pay 20 EUR, while for youths and seniors – 32 EUR.
Such prices apply in the period of 30.03.2014-21.04.2014. In turn, till 29.03.2014, which is the peak of the season, apply higher prices: 43 EUR for adults, 22 EUR for kids and 35 EUR for seniors and youths.
A single ride on the Express Millennium for adults, youths and seniors costs 17 EUR – both in high season, as well as off-season. Kids ride for 9 EUR.
Where to stay in Nassfeld?

It has also become an unquestionable leader in the category “Accommodations directly at the pistes & lifts”, which is a clear confirmation of the fact that guests won’t have any problems with finding a suitable accommodation.
Owners of motorhomes can stay at the Camping Flaschberger, located between Hermagor and Pressegger See. It’s situated about 10 km form the station Express Millennium. For a nightly accommodation of the family consisting of 2 adults and a child we’ll pay approximately 20 EUR (including the access to the electricity and visitor’s tax).
The biggest resort in Carinthia welcomes families with children, beginners as well as advanced skiers. It’s really worth visiting!
