Board madness

When browsing the offers of kitesurfing schools, it is not difficult to notice that in the case of Egypt, several of the same names are repeated over and over again. These are places recommended both by experienced instructors of this popular sport and its fans. So where is the best place to go to enjoy the wave? What Egyptian spots do kitesurf fans recommend?

According to avid snowboard and kite enthusiasts, the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aqaba abound in places for this sport. Sharm El Sheikh, Hamata and Hurghada appear among the mentioned regions, and their beauty puts Egypt at the forefront of countries chosen by kitesurfers.

Sharm El Sheikh, or kitesurfing in Sheikh Bay

The basis of the economy of the aforementioned Sharm El Sheikh is broadly understood tourism. Every year, thousands of people visit the bay, attracted by the beauty of the coral reefs, the cleanliness of the water and the possibility of practicing water sports, including snorkeling and diving. The city also has the largest international airport on the Sinai Peninsula, serving, among others charter flights from Poland. For the sake of the sun, emerald sea and golden sand on clean beaches, for many tourists it is the most beautiful resort of the Red Sea. Recently, Poles have also been eagerly visiting it.

There are two famous kitesurfing spots around Sharm El Sheikh. One of the spots is Nabq Bay, located 20 km from the center of Sharm El Sheik, while the other is Kite Lagoon in Dahab, 80 km from the resort.

About 300 km from the airport is Ras Sudr , a small town with several hotels, bars and a shop. It is located on the Gulf of Suez and although there is no extensive infrastructure here, Ras Sudr is an ideal place for water fun. Why? It consists of a sandy bottom and numerous lagoons merging into a huge pool at high water level. The region quickly became popular among Poles who go there every year to school camps from Hel.

Loud and partying Hurghada

The next place recommended by kitesurfers is over 450 km from Ras Sudr. This is Hurghada , a city in the middle of the Red Sea Riviera. Together with the neighboring towns, it is the center of tourism. Crowds of visitors admire the beautiful beaches, the unusual beauty of the coral reefs and the wonderful climate. A large local attraction is also a sandy island located about 300 meters from the shore . You can swim to it on a kite (inflatable kayak ) and rest in the shade of umbrellas.

When it comes to kitesurfing, you mainly swim at the Swiss Inn Magawish, at the Colona Water Sports school. The world's top players come here to train, because the school has the largest beach. The second popular place is Jasmin Village with separate zones for kitesurfers and windsurfers. It is located approx. 20 km from the city center.

Polish kitesurfing school in El Gouna

Another place that a kitesurfing enthusiast should be interested in is El Gouna (El Gouna). It is a tourist resort built on the model of Venice , with numerous canals crossing the city. It was designed in the form of a lagoon, and its creators are the "fathers" of Euro Disneyland, so to some it may seem a bit kitschy. One of the fastest ways to get to the resort is to fly to Hurghada and then drive approximately 25 km north.

El Gouna is a unique place for Polish tourists, especially for kayakers. There is the only Polish kitesurfing school in Egypt - Red Sea Zone. Every year, the resort is visited by Polish players coming for training, as well as people who are just starting their adventure with this sport. The spot is located in the northern part of the city, on Northen Monngroovy Beach. The beach is large and the water is deliciously shallow. A few hundred meters from the shore, the water strip is 70 cm deep.

A quiet and intimate Hamata

Near the border with Sudan, about 150 km south of Marsa El Alam and about 400 km from Hurghada, there is a tiny village made mainly of corrugated metal and clay. There are few tourists here, so you can relax in peace on the beautiful, clean beaches. The only local attractions are the fish restaurant, the market and the Kite Village kitesurfing school . Hamata is the perfect place to relax and swim in peace. The spot stretches for 5 km, so for lovers of water madness there is enough space to swim and set up with equipment. Here you can learn to swim without fear of stepping on a sharp rock - a sandy bottom ensures it.

Swimmers can move on the border of the mangrove reserve - dwarf trees growing in the water. Hamata is also famous for its Fury Shoals reefs (especially Shaab Claudia reef, where you can see schools of goat fish, barracuda and giant triggerfish) and the pristine coral reefs of St. John. Many tourists even compare them with Australia's reefs, and they are undoubtedly one of the Red Sea's most fascinating underwater routes. They belong to the Waadi Gamal National Park and attract diving enthusiasts from all over the world.

If someone hasn't decided where to go with their board yet, it's time to do so. Egyptian spots are calling for all kitesurfing enthusiasts. There is nothing to wait for!

You can go to Egypt with Kiteszkoła , one of the best Polish kitesurfing schools with its base in Jurata.
