Far out of town

The sun honors us with its presence more and more often, but it cannot be concealed that we are all quite tired of the long and capricious winter. More and more often we think about reloading the battery, going far outside the city and the possibility of forgetting about work and duties. One of the options for such an "escape" from reality is a trip to Slovakia - far enough not to think about problems, and close enough that organizing the trip will not be a problem.

Your destination may be the famous spa town of Piešťany situated on the D1 highway. The route leading to it is so simple that no one will have any problems with hitting it, and apart from being easy to get to, the road is exceptionally beautiful, so the trip to the spa will be as pleasant as the stay in the city itself.

To the hot springs - road No. 11

After passing the Polish-Slovak border, you can stop for a moment in Čadca , through which the international route E75 runs from Svrčinovec to Žilina. It is a relatively young city, so you will not find really old monuments here - the most famous is the 18th-century baroque Church of St. Bartholomew . Lovers of beautiful landscapes can start a hiking trip to Pogórze Turzowskie or Jaworników from here. Being in the area, it is also worth going to the quarry in the village of Miloszowa-Megońki and seeing the unique stone Kysuce spheres located there.

Driving on the national road No. 11 from the town of Czadca, we will pass Kysucké Nové Mesto on the road. There are not many monuments here either, but the reason for their small number is not the young age of the city, but the disasters that haunted it in the 19th century. Currently, the center is reborn and begins to attract more and more tourists, which is mainly due to the beauty of the area - it is surrounded by the nature reserves of Kysucká brána, Ochodnický prameň, Veľké Ostré and Ľadonhora. Skiers are also coming here more and more.

Another city you will pass on your way to the resort is Žilina , the largest center in north-central Slovakia. It is worth paying more attention to it, especially to the Art Nouveau Rosenfeld Palace, which is a miniature of the Belvedere Palace in Vienna, or to the Gothic church of St. Juraja in the district of Trnové. The next stop can be made in the town of Bytca , where you can find one of the few Renaissance palaces in Slovakia that has retained its original appearance. The palace dates from the 16th century, the walls of its arcades are decorated with paintings depicting voivodes, and in the middle of the northern wing there is a six-story tower with Renaissance graphite decorations.

Piestany

Trenčín is located in close proximity to the resort of Piestany. The centers are approximately half an hour away by car. One of the city's attractions is the 11th-century castle standing on a hill in the center (now it is the seat of the museum). It was rebuilt after a fire that hit the fortress at the end of the 18th century and today the restored castle with complete walls, several palaces and massive towers is a magnificent structure, visible from a distance. The original synagogue is also worth seeing. It is not historic - it was built in 1912 - but it is one of the most characteristic buildings in the city. Tourists pay special attention to its domes, including the main and the largest one. The synagogue is located at Ľ Square. Štúra.

Until you reach Piešťany, you can immediately see that you can relax here like nowhere else. Guests have at their disposal 2 thermal baths with indoor and outdoor pools and mineral waters containing valuable elements. These waters are very effective in the treatment of various allergies and respiratory diseases, as well as dermatological diseases. The local hot springs gush from a depth of 2,000 m. Every year thousands of holidaymakers come to the resort to cure themselves of various ailments - this is clearly confirmed by the symbol of the spa, a sculpture depicting a sick man breaking and throwing bullets away. Piešťany lies by the water reservoir Slňava, so apart from treatments, you can also devote yourself to water sports. According to statistics, the resort has the most sunny days in Slovakia, and also has a mild climate. This is another advantage of the city, encouraging to come.

Camping amidst the waters and SPA

In the immediate vicinity of the resort (1.5 km from the center of the spa, at Sĺňava 1 street) there is Campsite Lodenica , in a quiet park 4 km from the motorway exit. There are cottages, caravans, pitches for campers and places for tents waiting for guests. Direct access to the lake attracts lovers of fishing, swimming and other water sports. There are tennis courts, swimming pools and a fitness center nearby, and there are many marked hiking and cycling trails next to the campsite. Regarding prices, an adult will pay 3 euro / night here, and a motorhome seat costs 3-4 euro / day.

Similar prices apply in the next place. Camping Pullmann (921 01 Piešťany, Banka) covers 12,000 m2, 800 m2 of which is the campsite itself. It offers 50 motorhome pitches and two areas separated by a stream. In the first one we find peace among plum and apple trees, while the second is more lively and intended for families who prefer sunny places. A great attraction of the campsite is the possibility of night swimming in the pool combined with the option of tasting grilled specialties prepared by the cook and accompanying staff. So if someone gets hungry at night, they can easily leave the camper and order something "to eat", and then (or before that) go for a swim.
